A

Many schools already have content authored in html on their Intranet.

B

It is not possible to access directly files stored on school Intranets - certainly there could never be a guarantee of remote access eg from home.

C

However, it is possible to store a copy of the Intranet on a web server (such as the school's existing web site) from where it can easily be accessed by Learning Platform.

D

Schools would need to make arrangements with their ISP to allow storage (there might be issues about the amount of storage space needed).

E

If this is part of an existing school web site, the Intranet content would be stored in a 'hidden' location - ie there would be no links to it visible by the ordinary web visitor.

F

Within Learning Platform, you would simply need to make links to relevant index pages, using these as entries in your normal course Chapter / Section structure. See Learning Platform and HTML Files for more details.

G

Once the link is clicked, the student is effectively working within your 'Intranet on the Web' environment and all links and content would be exactly the same as in the local system.

H

Obviously this would make content available for the students from home, and you can include Learning Platform quizzes and Collaboration tools (Chat/eMail/Forums) into the Learning Platform structure and make use of the results storage and report writing facilities in the normal way.

I

As changes were made to the school Intranet, new or altered content would need to be uploaded to the web store as well, but this is equivalent to updating the Intranet and would involve no extra work in Learning Platform (as long as the single Home page wasn't changed).
