It
is very easy to transfer digital content in html format into Learning
Platform. Once in place the content runs immediately from its own existing
links.
B
It
is possible to store your entire Intranet onto the web and then make simple links
from Learning Platform to make it all run - this
is the preferred way to give access to Intranet data - see separate linkLearning Platform
and School Intranets.
C
Here
we are concerned with packaging up smaller sections of an entire Intranet.
D
The
basic technique simply needs you to keep all the html content inside a single
top-level folder ie a folder on your desktop. This folder can have subfolders
for different themes, chapters, sections, etc.
E
You
need to make a zip version of the top level html folder or datg and drop the top
level folder and EVERYTHING in it into the Java files upload window.
F
Then you create
your course name in Learning Platform and upload
the zip folder to the files store for the course.
G
HTML pages usually run from a main page called the index
page - you may have called yours History Home Page or something similar. You need
to take ONLY this index page of the html set onto your course Chapter 1.
H
Students
clicking this single link will be taken into your existing html environment and
all hyperlinks you already have should work properly.
I
It
can be a 10 minute job to import this html content and have it working - dependent
on the size of the folder and the speed of your local web connection.
J
If you decide to
'cut' a very large collection of html pages into smaller coherent sections, then
some of the 'top level' hyperlinks will need tailoring. This can be done on a
file-by-file basis within Learning Platform and individual
html pages can be replaced quite easily. You will find a more detailed
explanation of the process here.
K
You
can then author Learning Platform quizzes or use
the Collaboration tools (Chat/email/Forums) to set
work which will be stored within Learning Platform.
