Import a Course

A

PIM>Admin>Course Management >Import/Export>Import Materials.

B

Course files will always have a .zip or .lwp tag - both are zipped formats.

C

You have to Browse to the location of the zip folder on your own computer, in the normal way.

D

Once uploaded you can Enrol on the new course from the PIM, or add more content etc in the usual ways.

E

Imported courses must be made LIVE before students can see them. See Section D here to see how.

Export a Course

A

PIM>Admin>Course Management >Import/Export

B

For Export:

  • use the Native section for courses you have authored (used as the example below)

  • for commercially bought content use the SCORM section

  • if you have authored using Microsoft LRN Toolkit then use the LRN format export.

C

Click Export a Learnwise Topic to Learnwise Native Format

D

Click the alphabet letter with which your Course name starts (check it in Admin>Course Management>Courses if you are unsure).

E

  Click the Course Name

F

The system now creates a Zip folder containing all Course elements - this will take longer with large Courses containing graphics, sound, etc.

G

You are prompted with Open / Save / Cancel etc - choose Save

H

Rename the default file name (usually Admin123 or something similar) to a more sensible one if you wish, and choose the location for the saved file by browsing your own system in the usual way.

I

Click Save to complete the process then click Back

J

Learning Platform zipped folders either have the ordinary .zip folder extension (for Winzip) or they have the dedicated .lwp file extension. Both are zipped formats.

KNote: some computers do not offer you the normal choices of where to save and what to call the file. If your computer behaves this way - hold down the CTRL key throughout ALL the processes above - this usually forces the routines you need.
