A

Submitted Assessment (SA) is a built-in assessment route within Learning Platform . Use it whenever you want the student to return a piece of work to you electronically. The work is kept in the student Learning Log area where you can read/assess it and the student can see your remarks.

B

First you need to create the instructions using: PIM>MyCourse>Tutor>Content>Assessments>Submitted Assessment>Add Assessment

C

Type a Title and then clear instructions in the Description box.

D

You may wish to include in the instructions:
  • How to find a template file

  • How to download and save the template file.

  • How to return the file (see later)

  • Deadline date for return of work

Alternatively, for a free essay assessment you might need to put a theme, a target number of words and details of the return process. Some wording is suggested here.

E

You can edit the instructions later by choosing to List Assessments and then editing what you see.

F

When you have created the instructions for the Submitted Assessment you must add it to the course structure in almost the normal way - use +Item at the Chapter level.

G

When you go into the files store, use the drop-down menu to select Submitted Assessments - the instruction set you created will be on the list from where you can click .

H

Tag the file as an Assessment from the radio button icon list and click .

I

Don't forget to add the template file (if you need one) using one of the methods described in Templates for Student Use

J

To 'hand in' a Submitted Assessment the student follows the path: PIM>My Course; they click the assessment page; they are shown the instructions you wrote and are offered the chance to their work.

K

Once submitted, the work is visible to student and teacher in the Learning Log area.
LWork can usually only be submitted once, so the student has to be sure it is complete. On returning to the Submitted Assessment page the student sees the message: You have already uploaded your assessment.

M

There is a way to reset the Submited Assessment route for a student.

In Tutor>Class>Learning Log>View Log you can choose to View a piece of work sent in via the Submitted Assessment route or Mark it. On the Mark page, there is a Reset button:

Clicking the Reset button does 2 things - the work submitted is deleted from the store; and the student will see the Submit button again when they revisit the work page on your course.
